Synergy of Human Movement provides advanced training for the experienced, certified personal trainers who wish to work with all populations who have sustained injuries, surgery, chronic dysfunction or just want to improve their quality of life. This in-depth advanced continuing education course is advanced training for the experienced certified personal trainer who wishes to advance their careers to the next level and is the only course that examines how human occurs biomechanically based on the lastest science and research!

Course Overview:

With Synergy of Human Movement, you will gain a deeper understanding on how human movement occurs scientifically. You will learn how the various systems of the body affect one another, understand the functional anatomy that performs human movement. You will learn about common neuromuscular injuries and post therapy training programs that get results. Before you can train any client, you need to understand the science behind the movement, otherwise why are you training?

This course teaches the Science behind the Movement and is designed to challenge and make you think deeper, analyze motion and movement and truly understand how the human body functions!
Stay current with the latest research and techniques to train all clients’ enabling them to return to optimal health and function.

This comprehensive course includes a 479 page referenced manual and 5 DVD set featuring
Chris Gellert, PT, MPT, CSCS, CPT. PTCS is there for you to answer any questions you may have as well as provide quizzes and additional information to help you understand and guide you in truly understanding the science behind the movement!


The program is not intended to teach the attendee (personal trainer) to act nor be a physical therapist. The program does not teach nor encourage any personal trainer to examine joint mobility, assess muscle strength, gait, or assess an individual's balance. Moreover, PTCS encourages personal trainers to practice within their scope accordingly.

Course Objectives:

  1. Learn and understand the anatomy, functional anatomy and biomechanics
    that are involved in the process every daymovement.
  2. Understand how various systems of the body affect one another both directly and indirectly as it relates to movement.
  3. Understand the foundation of Integrative training and it's essential components for optimal training.
  4. Understand the sciece behind exercise prescription/programming for common orthopedic, neuromuscular conditions and special populations based on the latest esearch.
  5. Learn about common medications and their effect on body not only at rest but with exercise.
  6. Be able to conduct a comprehensive fitness assessment including identifying key “red flags,” understanding the importance of screening, understanding diagnostic tests and when to
    refer a client to other allied health professionals.
  7. Understand the different types of aerobic and muscular endurance training and how physiologically they can improve an athlete's cardiovascular efficiency.
  8. Learn how to design Sport Specific training Periodized programs utilizing the foundation of Periodization training/Tudor Bompa principles not only for athletes but for all populations.
  9. Understand the foundation of neuromuscular training/motor control/motor learning as
    it relates to balance, coordination, reaction and learning a new task.
  10. Gain a deeper insight and understanding on truly what the “core” is comprised of, its' importance, how to assess a client's core strength. Become skilled at teaching both static
    and dynamic core, scapular stabilization and balance exercises that work!
  11. Understand the difference between functional strengthening and human movement training.
  12. Understand the foundation of Marketing, Public Relations and Publicity and be able to
    apply this knowledge to attract and retain clients. Understand how to build allied health relationships, and how to communicate with other medical professionals.

Course Outline:
Unit one: Human Movement and How dysfunctions develop
This unit will introduce the course, discuss the importance of understanding functional anatomy as it relates human movement occurs, biomechanical principles, biomechanics of movement, biomechanics of connective tissue & structure, how all systems of the body interact and affect one another and how dysfunctions of the upper and lower body occur. Common medications with their effects and side effects will also be discussed.

Unit two: Fitness assessment
This unit will thoroughly examine how to conduct an ideal fitness assessment, how and when to modify. The importance of screening and referring to other allied health professionals will be thoroughly examined. Assessing body composition(BMI), flexibility, muscular endurance and cardiovascular endurance will be examined. Common diagnostic tests will be also discussed. Assessing posture, common postural dysfunctions, and respective training will be examined.

Unit three: Principles of therapeutic exercise/program design
This unit will focus on the principles and procedures of therapeutic exercise, program design, and understanding how one affects the other. This unit will also examine the clinical importance of therapeutic exercise when working with a post-rehabilitative client .

Unit four: Integrative training
This unit will examine integrative training principles such as neuromuscular training, spinal stabilization training, stretching and their effect on one another. This section also examines exercise prescription with sample workout programs with clinical rationale designed to guide the personal trainer in mastering exercise prescription with all levels of clients.

Unit five: Introduction, scope of practice, professionalism, and developing allied health relationships
This unit will summarize the course, provide actionable steps to guide the trainer how to execute, discuss scope of professionalism and how to build allied health relationships.

Unit six: Foundation of Business Marketing
This unit will thoroughly discuss the essentials of Marketing, actionable steps needed to take in order to “brand” yourself and to be proficient in niche specialized training.

Pre-requisites for home study course:

  • Possess a national personal training certification from ACE, ACSM,
    AFAA, NSCA, NASM, NCSF, NETA, NFPT & NCCPT respectively and/or possess a Bachelor's degree in health related field such as exercise science, movement science, kinesiology, etc or minimum of 5 years personal training experience.(Trainer must provide proof of experience via resume) .
  • Possess a valid CPR certification

You may return the product in its original condition within 10 days of receipt.  Upon verification we will promptly exchange if the item is damaged.  If in the case of a manual or workbook, the course manual or workbook must not be damaged, otherwise this negates full refund. Examination Process

To earn the CEU's and credentials as Advance Personal Trainer, the personal trainer must successfully pass an online examination and an oral(over the phone) examination.

The Synergy of Human Movement examination consists of two parts. The first part is a
written 125 question multiple choice examination taken online and the second part consists of oral examination with three case studies.

The second part is an oral examination, whereyou willbe asked three case study questions similarly in the course manual or the live seminar you attended.The questions will be focusing on anatomy, functional anatomy, biomechanics, pathophysiology,movement dysfunctions, periodization training as seen in the sample case studies in the back of the Synergy Course Manual. You will have approximately 30 minutes to complete, and if more time is needed, you won't be penalized.(See below)

The time to take the oral examination must be set up ahead of time and also be mutually
convenient with PTCS.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What is a Passing score for written and practical examinations?

A: You must achieve a score of 75% on each section.

Notification of scores: Please allow 4-6 weeks for grading of examination from the date
you took your exam. Written notification will be mailed accordingly. Do not call PTCS.

Q: What will I be asked for my written examination?

A: You will be asked questions pertaining to all six units of the course with heavy emphasis

on functional anatomy, biomechanics, periodization training, and post therapy training principles.
You will have timed three hours to complete the exam via online after receiving a password/code
from PTCS.

Q: What will I be asked for my practical examination?

A: You will be asked 3 case study questions. A case study represents a hypothetical client you might encounter. Within each question you will be asked to define the anatomy, functional anatomy, biomechanics, physiology that pertains accordingly. You will also be required to list one exercise
that is contraindicated(avoided)from teaching with scientific rationale.You will also
be asked to describe a sample periodized program with rationale.

Q: If someone does not pass a section, what happens?

A:you are only required to re-take the portion you did not pass. A maximum of 3 attempts is
allowed for re-testing purposes.

Q: How much will it cost to re-take my exam?
